Detectives from the St. Petersburg Police Department are trying to identify a man armed with a knife who attacked and robbed a 65-year-old woman on 17th Avenue Southeast and Bay Street Southeast on Monday afternoon.
It happened shortly after 2 p.m., Jan. 27, while the victim, a 65-year-old woman, was walking near the intersection of 17th Ave. SE and Bay Street.
Surveillance video shows the suspect passed her, then turned around and approached her. Within seconds, the man grabbed her, punched her in the stomach, and cut her arm. He then placed her ring finger in his mouth to forcibly remove the rings from her finger.
He is described as approximately age 30-35, 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a full beard and a short Afro hairstyle. He was wearing a black T-shirt and black pants.
