Elderly Driver Dies After Crashing Into Bridge Pillar on US-19

Clearwater, FL – An 85-year-old St. Petersburg woman died after crashing her vehicle into a bridge pillar along US-19 on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

According to authorities, the woman was driving a Cadillac STS northbound on the frontage road near Belleair Road at approximately 1:05 p.m. when she lost control of the vehicle.

The car veered left, striking the curb, which caused the tires to deflate. The vehicle then continued into the median, where it collided with a bridge pillar.

Emergency responders transported the driver to an area hospital, where she later died.

The crash remains under investigation.
