Tampa Firefighters Contain Commercial Trash Fire in Drew Park

Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a fire at a recycled metals facility in the 4800 block of N. Hesperides St. at 3:20 p.m. on March 19, 2025. Upon arrival, Engine 12 found a large scrap metal pile fully engulfed in flames, producing heavy smoke.

Firefighters conducted suppression efforts using both ground and aerial operations. Facility workers assisted by using their equipment to move metal piles, allowing crews to extinguish hotspots.

The fire was brought under control within 50 minutes. No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.

Tampa Fire Rescue investigators were on the scene, but the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
