Mass Casualty Boat Collision Near Memorial Causeway Under Investigation
Clearwater, Fla. – Multiple agencies are on-scene following a boat collision near the Memorial Causeway that occurred at approximately 8:43 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

Due to the number of injuries and the severity of the incident, information remains limited. First responders are currently evaluating approximately 51 patients. Two air transport units have arrived, and two others were initially requested. The request for additional were cancelled due to no availability in the area. Ten ground ambulance units were asked to assist with patient transport. A total of 12 people have been transported to local hospitals. Six patients were declared trauma alert patients.

One of the boats involved has been identified as a Clearwater Ferry vessel. A second boat, a recreational vessel, has also been located, and its occupants are undergoing medical evaluation at the Belleair Boat Ramp, which is approximately 3.75 miles south of the crash location.

Initial reports indicate several patients have suffered broken bones and other significant injuries. Reports suggest that the U.S. Coast Guard confirmed that one deceased patient is aboard their vessel.
