CLEARWATER, Fla. – A Largo man was arrested after deputies say he battered two residents at a group home for disabled adults.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began on May 2, 2025, after a report was filed regarding alleged abuse at Live Oak Group Home, located at 2327 Curlew Avenue in unincorporated Clearwater.
Detectives say 27-year-old Travis Devon Crayton, an employee at the facility, physically assaulted two adult male residents with severe cognitive disabilities. One of the victims is also deaf and non-verbal.
Another employee reportedly witnessed the incidents. According to the witness, Crayton grabbed the first victim by the head, wrapped his hands and fingers around the man’s skull, and applied pressure for about ten minutes before knocking on his head twice with a closed fist. He was described as making fun of the victim, and while doing so, manipulated the victim’s head line like a puppet, knocking on his head with a closed fist like a door. The victim was reported as screaming “stop” as Crayton forcefully continued to batter the victim.
Crayton then allegedly approached the second victim, who was lying on a couch, and pressed his knee against the victim’s head. A witness stated that the victim was flailing his arms while underneath Crayton’s knee in an apparent attempt to escape.
Crayton was arrested on May 7, 2025. He faces two counts of abuse of an elderly or disabled adult and was booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
