Fatal Motorcycle Crash Under Investigation in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A motorcyclist died Friday evening following a crash involving an SUV on Park Street North.

According to investigators, the crash occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m. when a Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling northbound on Park Street North, approaching 28th Avenue North. A Mazda SUV traveling westbound on 28th Avenue North made a left turn onto southbound Park Street North, crossing into the path of the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, identified as 19-year-old Mason Derks was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront in St. Petersburg, where he later died from his injuries. His next of kin has been notified.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and is cooperating with law enforcement.
