CLEARWATER, Fla. — Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to a water-rescue call on Sand Key this evening.
The call was received at 6:09 p.m. from a location just north of the Clearwater Sailing Center on the Intracoastal Waterway. Upon arrival, first responders found that an adult male had already been pulled from the water by bystanders, who had initiated CPR.
Fire Rescue personnel took over lifesaving efforts, and the man was transported to Morton Plant Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later died at the hospital.
