CLEARWATER, FL — The City of Clearwater has named Chad Pittman as the new chief of Clearwater Fire & Rescue. Pittman, currently serving as fire chief for Largo Fire Rescue, will begin his new role on August 11.
Pittman has more than 35 years of experience in fire protection and emergency services. He has led Largo Fire Rescue since October 2018 and previously held positions with Palm Harbor Fire Rescue and East Lake Fire Rescue.
“With more than 35 years of progressive leadership in fire protection and emergency services, Chief Pittman brings a wealth of experience and dedication to our community,” said City Manager Jennifer Poirrier. “We are confident that Chief Pittman’s leadership and expertise will greatly benefit the city of Clearwater and its residents.”
“It is my honor to be selected as the fire chief for the city of Clearwater, and I look forward to joining this outstanding team and continuing its strong tradition of service,” Pittman said.
Clearwater Fire & Rescue has 225 employees and an annual budget of $37 million. In the past year, the department responded to over 31,000 calls for service.
Pittman will succeed former Chief Scott Ehlers, who retired in December. Deputy Chief Marvin Pettingill has been serving as interim chief since Ehlers’ departure.
