Clearwater – Detectives from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) have arrested a Clearwater man in connection with a shooting that occurred on June 5, 2025.
Shortly after 7 p.m., 24-year-old Derrius Laskett of St. Petersburg arrived at a local hospital with two gunshot wounds. Laskett informed Clearwater Police that the incident occurred near Auburn Street Northwest and Carnegie Avenue. Due to the location falling under PCSO jurisdiction, detectives from that agency assumed the investigation.
According to investigators, Laskett and 24-year-old Jamarl Spence of Clearwater were involved in a road rage confrontation. Laskett, a passenger in a vehicle, exited while exchanging words.
According to an arrest affidavit, Spence then produced a firearm and fired eight rounds, striking Laskett twice. Spence fled the area in his vehicle after the shooting.
Laskett was treated and later released from the hospital.
Spence was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder in the First Degree. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
