St. Petersburg Police Officer Grabs Baby From Father Running in Traffic

St. Petersburg, FL – On Thursday, August 14, 2025, Treyvon Deandre Maynor, 21, was arrested on multiple felony charges after allegedly attempting to throw his one-year-old child into moving traffic. The St. Petersburg Police Department apprehended Maynor following a series of events that began with a domestic dispute.

The incident began around 3:05 p.m. at the intersection of 15th Avenue South and 34th Street South. According to the arrest affidavits, Maynor, who was on a bicycle, used it to block the victim’s black Kia SUV, preventing her from leaving. The victim and Maynor have a domestic relationship and a child in common. After blocking her vehicle, Maynor allegedly entered the back driver’s seat of the SUV, put his hands around the victim’s throat, and threatened to kill everyone in the vehicle. He then took the one-year-old child and fled on foot with the baby on his shoulders.

As officers arrived on the scene, Maynor reportedly ran into the intersection with the child. The arrest affidavit states he “ran with the child on his shoulders into traffic… and threw the 1-year-old child off his shoulders behind him”. An officer was able to catch the child as they were falling to the ground, preventing injury.

According to a press release today from the St. Petersburg Police Department, “Officers pursued him, and an officer was able to run behind him and grab the child’s legs and pull her from his back. The child was not hurt.”

Police state that Maynor intentionally tried to run into traffic in an attempt to kill both himself and the child. Maynor evaded officers and police vehicles, running past several residences.

Maynor faces four charges stemming from the incident:

  • Aggravated Child Abuse
  • False Imprisonment
  • Burglary with Assault or Battery
  • Resisting an Officer Without Violence
