HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Riverview woman died early Thursday, August 28, 2025, after being struck by a vehicle on I-75.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred in Thursday at approximately 12:30 a.m. near the 247 Milepost, near Old Big Ben Road in the Gibsonton area.
A Kia Sportage, driven by a 25-year-old Sarasota woman, was traveling southbound when it came upon a disabled Nissan Altima stopped on the outside shoulder.
Troopers say the driver of the Altima, a 27-year-old Riverview woman, was outside her vehicle and walked into the roadway. She entered the path of the Kia and was struck.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Kia was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
