Pinellas – Deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 44-year-old New Port Richey man following a stabbing early Wednesday morning at the Rally Gas Station, located at 3400 Ulmerton Road in Clearwater.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:54 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. According to investigators, 51-year-old Dale Jabonero of Clearwater was smoking a cigarette outside the gas station when 44-year-old Enrique Lopez of New Port Richey approached and asked for one. After a brief conversation, Lopez walked away to speak with another person before returning and punching Jabonero in the face without provocation.
Deputies say Jabonero attempted to leave, but Lopez followed and continued to strike him until Jabonero fell to the ground. Lopez then stabbed Jabonero multiple times.
When deputies arrived, Lopez retreated inside the gas station before being taken into custody after a brief struggle.
Jabonero was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition. Lopez was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder in the First Degree, Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, and Resisting an Officer with Violence.
After being medically cleared at a hospital, Lopez was booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
