According to investigators, 62-year-old John Baustert was driving a 2012 Toyota Tacoma eastbound on Valencia Terrace, approaching Seminole Boulevard. At the same time, Groves was riding his electric bicycle northbound in the southbound bicycle lane of Seminole Boulevard.

As Baustert began turning south onto Seminole Boulevard, his vehicle collided with Groves at the intersection.
