E-Bike Rider Dies from Crash Injuries in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg Police report that an e-bike rider has died from injuries sustained in a crash on November 23.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., Shapon Sarder, age 55, was riding a Gotrax e-bike southbound on 49th Street North near 39th Avenue North. According to investigators, Sarder began traveling diagonally in a southeast direction for unknown reasons and moved into the path of a southbound Hyundai Sonata.

The Hyundai struck the e-bike, causing Sarder to be thrown from the bike. He suffered serious injuries. The driver stopped and remained at the scene.

Sarder was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died on November 26. His next of kin has been notified.
