Single-Vehicle Crash Reported on Gateway Expressway

A single-vehicle crash was reported early Sunday morning on the Gateway Expressway involving a Kia Forte driven by an 18-year-old woman from Tarpon Springs.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:40 a.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2026.

According to investigators, the Kia was traveling eastbound on the Gateway Expressway when it entered the southbound ramp leading to Interstate 275. At the time of the crash, heavy fog was present. The driver was traveling at a speed too fast for conditions and failed to negotiate a curve on the ramp.

The vehicle departed the roadway and overturned. The driver was not injured in the crash.

The driver was cited for careless driving.

The incident remains under investigation.
