TAMPA BAY — Motorists traveling southbound on I-275 toward the Howard Frankland Bridge will encounter an overnight closure beginning late Wednesday.
Southbound I-275 traffic will be required to exit at SR 60 (Exit 39) from 11 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, through 5 a.m. Thursday, January 29, weather permitting.
During the closure, message boards and temporary signage will direct drivers along the posted detour route using Memorial Highway (SR 60), Courtney Campbell Causeway (SR 60), Bayside Bridge (CR 611), and Roosevelt Boulevard (SR 686).
Other roadways, including Kennedy Boulevard, Dale Mabry Highway, and Gandy Boulevard, will remain accessible and may be used as alternate routes.
Drivers should expect possible traffic congestion and delays and are advised to allow additional travel time. Northbound I-275 lanes, from St. Petersburg to Tampa, will not be affected by the closure.
The closure is required for crews to complete the installation of overhead signage associated with the new southbound I-275 Howard Frankland Bridge project between Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
