A golf cart carrying eight people overturned after a collision with a car in Wesley Chapel on March 14, 2026, at approximately 6:15 p.m.
According to investigators, a golf cart driven by a 43-year-old Wesley Chapel man was traveling eastbound in the golf cart lane on Elam Road. Behind the golf cart, a Honda Accord driven by a 17-year-old female from Wesley Chapel was also traveling eastbound on Elam Road.
West of Callow Ford Drive, the golf cart made a U-turn into the path of the Honda Accord. The Honda then collided with the golf cart.
The impact caused the golf cart to overturn and eject all of its occupants. Authorities said eight people were riding on the golf cart at the time of the crash, including the driver, his wife, their five children, and a 16-year-old neighbor.
After the collision, the Honda Accord continued forward and came to a final rest on the shoulder of the roadway, partially in an adjacent pond.
The Honda contained two occupants, the 17-year-old driver and a 17-year-old female passenger. Both were not injured in the crash.
All of the golf cart occupants suffered serious injuries and were transported to area hospitals.
The crash remains under investigation.
