St. Petersburg Woman Killed in Crash at 38th Avenue North and 66th Street North

ST. PETERSBURG — A 66-year-old St. Petersburg woman was killed in a traffic crash late Tuesday morning at the intersection of 38th Avenue North and 66th Street North.

The crash occurred shortly after 10 a.m. when Joanne Greehan was driving a gray Nissan Sentra northbound on 66th Street North. According to investigators, the she made an improper left turn onto 38th Avenue North and entered the path of a red Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling southbound.

The vehicles collided, and the Nissan left the roadway and struck a pole.

Greehan was extricated from the Nissan and transported to HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. Authorities confirmed that her next of kin has been notified.

The driver of the Ford F-150 sustained minor injuries, remained at the scene, and is cooperating with the investigation.

The intersection was closed for more than one hour while traffic homicide investigators processed the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
