LARGO — A Largo man was arrested on an attempted homicide charge after investigators say he intentionally struck his wife with a vehicle and fled the scene early Friday morning.
According to the Largo Police Department, officers responded at approximately 3:06 a.m. on March 27, 2026, to a reported battery at the Whataburger located at 10150 Ulmerton Road.
During the investigation, officers determined that a female victim was intentionally struck by a vehicle driven by her husband, identified as 32-year-old Dervante Stubbs. Authorities said Stubbs fled the scene following the incident.
The victim sustained significant injuries and was transported to a local trauma center, where she remains in stable condition.
Investigators were advised that Stubbs may attempt to flee the country. Law enforcement tracked him to Broward County, where he was located and taken into custody a few hours later.
Stubbs has been charged with attempted homicide and is currently being held at the Broward County Jail, awaiting transport to the Pinellas County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
