St. Petersburg — A single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning resulted in the death of an 18-year-old St. Petersburg driver. The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
According to investigators, 18-year-old Angel Burke was operating a red Dodge Charger southbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North, approaching 70th Avenue North, at approximately 12:30 a.m.

Burke attempted to pass another vehicle when he lost control on the wet roadway. The vehicle began to rotate, sliding sideways before the driver’s side doors struck a tree in front of 6818 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North.
Emergency responders pronounced Burke deceased at the scene.
