St. Petersburg Woman Killed in Early Morning Crash on MLK Jr. Street South

A 29-year-old St. Petersburg woman was killed in a traffic crash early Wednesday morning in the 900 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

The crash occurred shortly after 2 a.m. when a white Toyota Camry attempted to back out of the parking lot of Sunshine Food Mart, located at 901 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South. Investigators say the Toyota entered the roadway and was struck on the passenger side by a black Jeep Wrangler traveling southbound on MLK Jr. Street South.

Tamara Williams, 29, of St. Petersburg, was a passenger in the Toyota and died at the scene. Her next of kin has been notified.

The driver of the Toyota and a passenger in the Jeep were transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Jeep was not injured, remained at the scene, and cooperated with investigators.
