A 60-year-old Clearwater man was arrested Thursday after allegedly attempting to enter an occupied City of Pinellas Park pickup truck and later resisting officers during his arrest, according to an arrest affidavit.
According to investigators, the incident occurred around 1:23 p.m. on May 7, 2026, near 112th Terrace North and 43rd Street North in Pinellas Park. Police said William D. Knight approached a 2017 Chevy Silverado owned by the City of Pinellas Park and asked the driver for a ride.
The affidavit states Knight allegedly pulled on the driver’s side door handle before moving to the passenger side and reaching his hand through the window in an attempt to unlock the vehicle and enter the passenger seat. When the driver did not unlock the truck, Knight allegedly climbed into the truck bed and refused to get off.
Police charged Knight with burglary of an occupied conveyance, a felony.
According to a second affidavit, when Corporal L. Kolbicka attempted to take Knight into custody, Knight allegedly pulled away and resisted officers without violence. He was additionally charged with resisting an officer without violence.

Authorities said Knight was transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital for medical clearance before being taken to the Pinellas County Jail.
