The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is investigating a serious crash that occurred Sunday night in Madeira Beach involving a Jeep Wrangler and a Tesla Model 3.
According to investigators, the crash happened on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at approximately 9:43 p.m. at the intersection of Gulf Boulevard and 150th Avenue.
Deputies say 53-year-old Jane Walseth was driving a 2015 Jeep Wrangler northbound on Gulf Boulevard when she approached the intersection at 150th Avenue. At the same time, 29-year-old Jordan Tuttle was driving a 2024 Tesla Model 3 and making an eastbound turn onto 150th Avenue.
Investigators say Walseth ran a red light and entered the intersection, striking the Tesla.
The impact caused the Jeep Wrangler to roll onto its side, ejecting Walseth through the vehicle’s fiberglass top. Deputies said Walseth was found unresponsive next to the vehicle and was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Tuttle suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and released from the hospital.
According to investigators, impairment appears to be a factor in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
