PALM HARBOR — A Pinellas County psychiatrist who owns a Clearwater mental health practice has been arrested on child pornography charges following an investigation by the Cyber Investigations Unit of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
According to investigators, detectives launched the investigation after receiving information that child sexual abuse material was being accessed and shared over the internet. Through various investigative techniques, detectives identified the suspect as 61-year-old William Hervey.
Detectives said the images depicted children between the ages of 6 and 8 engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Using the Child Victim Identification Program, investigators determined the files were part of a documented Russian child sexual abuse material series.
During the investigation, detectives learned Hervey is a board-certified psychiatrist and the owner of Advantage Mental Health Center, located along U.S. Highway 19 in Clearwater.
On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, detectives executed a search warrant at Hervey’s residence in Palm Harbor, where they seized multiple electronic devices for forensic examination.
Hervey was arrested and transported to the Pinellas County Jail, where he was booked on two counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives have not announced whether additional charges are anticipated.
