SEMINOLE — A 52-year-old Seminole man has been charged with first-degree murder following a violent altercation that left his 82-year-old mother dead Monday afternoon.
At approximately 4:04 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026, deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 86th Avenue North after multiple 911 callers reported an injured man covered in blood on the north side of the roadway.
Initial information indicated that the man was on the sidewalk, appeared to have a knife and was bleeding.
When deputies arrived, the man, identified as 52-year-old Jason Suhadolnik, was being treated by paramedics. Based on information gathered at the scene, deputies determined there may be another injured person inside a nearby residence.
Deputies entered the residence at 9549 86th Avenue North and found Jason’s mother, 82-year-old Patty Suhadolnik, lying on the kitchen floor covered and surrounded by a significant amount of blood.
Seminole Fire Rescue and Sunstar Paramedics provided medical care to both patients. Patty and Jason were transported to the hospital, where Patty was later pronounced deceased. Jason sustained injuries to his hands.
Detectives assigned to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Robbery & Homicide Unit began investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to detectives, the investigation determined that a violent altercation involving a knife occurred inside the residence, resulting in fatal injuries to Patty and injuries to Jason’s hands.
Detectives subsequently charged Jason Suhadolnik with First Degree Murder and Violation of Probation. He was taken into custody and will be transported to the Pinellas County Jail once he is released from the hospital.
The Sheriff’s Office said next of kin has been notified.
A current booking photograph of Jason is not yet available. The booking photograph released by the Sheriff’s Office is from a previous arrest in December 2023.
Court records show that in July 2024, Suhadolnik pleaded guilty to three offenses involving law enforcement: resisting an officer with violence, battery on a law enforcement officer, and assault on a law enforcement officer. The judgment lists resisting an officer with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer as third-degree felonies, while the assault charge was a misdemeanor.
The investigation remains ongoing.
