Father Seriously Injured in St. Petersburg Shooting; Police Search for Stepson

ST. PETERSBURG — Police are searching for an 18-year-old man following a shooting that seriously injured his stepfather early Sunday morning.

Officers responded at approximately 4:20 a.m. on September 13, 2026, to a home in the 4300 block of Cherry Street NE.

According to preliminary information from the St. Petersburg Police Department, a verbal argument occurred between an 18-year-old man and his 34-year-old stepfather. During the argument, the stepfather suffered a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital with serious injuries.

Police said the stepson left the scene before officers arrived, and authorities are searching for him.

The shooting remains under active investigation. Additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
