LARGO — A 51-year-old woman was arrested Thursday, September 24, 2026, after Largo police say she stole two packages of pumpkin mini-bundt cakes from Sprouts and resisted officers who tried to take her into custody.
At approximately 8:35 a.m., Jennifer Dawn Gicker entered the Sprouts at 2156 E. Bay Drive “half-dressed,” grabbed the cakes and ran past the registers without paying, according to arrest affidavits. The affidavits do not specify what clothing she was or was not wearing. The cakes were valued at approximately $12.
A caller provided police with a description of Gicker, her silver Toyota Camry and its license plate. Officers located her inside the car near her residence and saw the cakes on the front passenger seat, according to the affidavits.
At approximately 8:50 a.m., an officer ordered Gicker to leave the car, but she repeatedly refused. Police broke the driver’s side window to unlock the door and remove her. Officers say she pulled away and braced herself as they attempted to take her into custody.
Gicker was charged with petit theft with two or more prior convictions, a third-degree felony. The affidavit lists theft convictions from 2011 and 2016, which elevated the new theft charge to a felony despite the merchandise’s value of about $12. She was also charged with resisting an officer without violence, a first-degree misdemeanor.
Records show this is Gicker’s thirteenth arrest in Pinellas County.
