83 Year Old Man Stabbed in Pinellas Park Robbery Attempt
On 04-01-14, shortly before 10:00 a.m. PPPD responded to a call of a battery at 5060 76th Avenue N. Upon arrival the officers learned that the victim, Charles Clark-84, was attacked and stabbed in what is believed to have been an attempted robbery.
Clark suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital. Before he was transported, he explained that he had just pulled into the parking lot and exited his vehicle when he was grabbed from behind by an unknown subject. He struggled to break free and knocked one of the subjects to the ground. Clark said that he struggled with one of the other male subjects. The subjects didn’t demand anything from Clark as they fought. At one point, one of the subjects produced a knife and Clark was stabbed at least twice. A knife was recovered at the scene that was believed to have been used in the attack.
A passerby saw the attack and ran to aid Clark. He scared the subjects off and they fled the scene on bicycles.
Clark believes the motivation for the attack was to steal his vehicle. At this time, the suspects remain at large.
Area schools were placed on lockdown while Pinellas Park K-9 units searched the area with the assistance of PCSO air support.
