Pedestrian injured after stepping in front of vehicle on Seminole Blvd

On Wednesday, October 8, 2014, multiple calls were received by the Pinellas 911 Emergency Communication Center regarding a crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian. The crash occurred in the southbound lanes of Seminole Blvd at 106nd Avenue North.
Crews from Seminole Fire Rescue Department, Sunstar, Florida Highway Patrol and Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office were all notified of the crash.
Crews from Seminole Fire Rescue arrived on-scene and began treating 35 year-old Kevin Krieter of Temple Terrace, Florida. Krieter was still in the roadway and seriously injured. Based on the extent of his injuries, an air transport utilizing Bayflite was requested. Additional resources from Seminole Fire Rescue were requested to set up a landing zone nearby at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd on 102nd Avenue.
According to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a Largo resident and passenger were traveling southbound in her 2009 Honda Civic in the inside lane approaching 106th Avenue N. Krieter was on the grass median of Seminole Blvd just south of 106th Avenue when he stepped into the southbound lanes of Seminole Blvd and into the path of the Honda. The driver of the vehicle attempted to veer right to avoid the pedestrian but was unsuccessful. The Honda collided with Krieter who sustained serious injures and was transported to Bayfront Health – St. Petersburg.
No charges are pending according to FHP
All southbound lanes of Seminole Boulevard were closed for a period of time during the investigation.
