Amber Alert Issued Out of Volusia County For Three New Smyrna Beach Children

The AMBER Alert for Akeem Dorset, Makylah Brown and Aaliyah Brown from New Smyrna Beach has been resolved. The children are safe.

A Florida AMBER Alert has been issued for the following three children:
Akeem Dorset, a biracial male, 3 years old, 2 feet 3 inches tall, 30 pounds, brown hair and brown eyes, who was last seen wearing a green shirt, green/white checkered shorts, and flip flops.
Makylah Brown, a biracial female, 8 years old, 4 feet tall, 62 pounds,
brown hair and brown eyes, who was last seen wearing a white/blue shirt,
purple shorts, and flip flops.
Aaliyah Brown, a biracial female, 10 years old, 4 feet 2 inches tall, 60 pounds, brown hair and brown eyes, who was last seen wearing a pink shirt, black/pink shorts, and flip flops. Akeem has three ponytails in his hair. She has shoulder length hair and was wearing it in a ponytail. She has shoulder length hair and was wearing it wrapped in a bun.
The children were last seen in the area of the 800 block of Oleander Street in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. The children may be in the company of Venita Porter-Carter, a black female, 65 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 170 pounds, brown hair and brown eyes, who was last seen wearing a Hazard green work shirt and jeans. She has braids in her hair, a tattoo of praying hands on her right calf, and bad varicose veins on her legs.
They may be traveling in a 2010, white Suzuki Grand Vitara, Florida tag number 632RKB.

To qualify as an AMBER ALERT, 5 criteria must be met:
AMBER Alert Activation Criteria
1) The child must be under 18 years of age.
2) There must be a clear indication of an abduction.
3) The law enforcement agency’s preliminary investigation must conclude that the child’s life is in danger.
4) There must be a detailed description of child, abductor and/or vehicle to broadcast to the public.
5) The activation must be recommended by the local law enforcement agency of jurisdiction.
NOTE: Amber Alerts are not to be used for runaway or family
abductions unless investigation determines child’s life is in
immediate danger.
