Arrest Made in 2024 Assault Case involving 70-year-old Tram Operator in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg, FL – A man accused of assaulting a tram driver at the St. Pete Pier in 2024 has been taken into custody in Maryland, following a cross-country search.

Brian Leona Boggs, age 37, was arrested with the help of U.S. Marshals after detectives tracked him to Maryland. Records indicate has arrested by the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office in Upper Marlboro, MD. Records indicate that his address is in Rockledge, Florida.

The incident occurred in June 2024, when a 70-year-old tram driver was assaulted while operating the tram at the Pier. According to investigators, Boggs became upset when the driver attempted to move a stroller that was blocking seats. Boggs then knocked the driver to the ground, causing injury.

Boggs is charged with battery on a person 65 or older.
