Around 9:30 a.m., Pasco Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a suspicious incident.
An individual reported to deputies that a subject, identified as Eric Dykstra (DOB: 11/19/1966), with whom they had a no contact order against was inside of their residence after Dykstra was released from the Pasco County Detention Facility on Wednesday, February 21 where he had been incarcerated since December 14, 2023 for charges related to theft and domestic battery.
Dykstra was inside of the residence, which he previously shared with the victim, alone. The victim observed Dykstra inside of the house via a home security system while they were away from the residence.
Upon deputies’ arrival, Dykstra fired a shot inside of the home and threatened arriving deputies. At that time, deputies assumed a tactical position and called for additional resources.
In addition, Dykstra made threats to the residence and positioned gas and propane tanks to deter entry by deputies, which was observed via the home security system.
After several hours where deputies continued contact with Dykstra, Dykstra exited the residence without incident and was taken into custody.
