Bicyclist killed in Dunedin crash

On Thursday, October 26, 2023, at around 11:07 p.m., law enforcement responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist in Pinellas County. The incident occurred on Patricia Avenue, located south of Virginia Street in Dunedin.

Samuel McVicker, aged 34, of Dunedin, cycled southward on Patricia Avenue within the roadway and did not have bicycle lights. An 18-year-old female from Dunedin was also heading south on Patricia Avenue in her 2015 Toyota Rav4.

The investigation suggests that McVicker attempted to cross the southbound lanes of Patricia Avenue, just south of Virginia Street when the Rav4 struck him. McVicker was transported to Mease Dunedin Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The crash was not influenced by speed or impairment, according to investigators.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
