Tampa — Tampa Police recovered the body of an adult male Monday afternoon who had been reported missing after paddleboarding over the weekend in Old Tampa Bay.
According to Tampa Police, officers were notified of a missing person just after 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Family members reported the man was last seen paddleboarding near the 7700 block of West Courtney Campbell Causeway at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 28.
A search and rescue operation began the morning of March 30 once weather and visibility conditions improved. Multiple specialty units and partner agencies assisted in searching designated areas of Old Tampa Bay near the Courtney Campbell Causeway.
At approximately 11:00 a.m., members of the Tampa Police Marine Unit located the man’s paddleboard and additional personal belongings on the west side of the bay. About an hour later, at approximately 12:00 p.m., the man’s body was recovered near the Courtney Campbell Causeway bridge.
Authorities stated that positive identification of the victim is pending, and next of kin notification has not yet been completed.
Investigators said there are no indications of foul play at this time. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information may be released as it becomes available.
