Bradenton man facing vehicle homicide charges after crash involving SCAT bus

BRADENTON – A Bradenton man is facing charges of Motor Vehicle Homicide, Leaving the scene of death and operating without a license after a deadly crash in Bradenton Saturday evening.

FHP says 21-year-old Gustavo DeLeon was operating a sedan westbound on State Road 70 approaching US 41 when he collided with an SUV that was traveling east on SR 70 approaching US 41. The impact sent Gustavo’s vehicle up onto the raised median striking a pedestrian who was then struck by a SCAT bus.

The pedestrian, a 60-year-old Bradenton man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gustavo fled the scene on foot but was apprehended and booked into the Manatee County Jail.

The crash remains under investigation by FHP.
