Burglary Suspect Stabbed at Home in Pinellas Park

At approximately 3:36 PM on Friday, December 19, 2014, officers from Pinellas Park Police Department responded to 8000 52nd Street N. in reference to a burglary in progress. Crews from the Pinellas Park Fire Department were also dispatched as there reports of a person who was bleeding.
An investigation by the Pinellas Park Police Department learned that the suspect, 20 year-old Joshue E. Mojica-Carmona was also dating the female who resided there. He attempted to enter through a window when confronted by 21 year-old Edgardo Diaz and the 17 year-old female.
They prohibited his entry through the window. At some point Carmona opened the front door and the female tried to calm him down. He battered her and pushed passed her going after Diaz leading to a physical altercation.
During the altercation, Diaz stabbed Carmona multiple times in the legs and torso. Carmona fled the scene and was found by rescue personnel a short distance away. He was injured badly during the altercation and suffered multiple puncture wounds.
He was transported as a trauma alert to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. The injuries were described as severe and he was expected to undergo surgery Friday evening.
When Carmona is released from the hospital, he will be charged with at least one count of Burglary/Battery.
Neither Diaz or the female were injured in this incident.
