At 5:30 a.m., on Sunday, May 21, 2023, an emergency call brought firefighters from the Clearwater Fire & Rescue Department rushing to the scene of a house fire at 1000 Carlton Street.
Upon arrival, firefighters were greeted by a hazardous situation. The house was engulfed in thick smoke, with fierce flames posing a significant threat. To complicate matters further, downed power lines littered the front yard, adding to the chaos and potential danger.
Firefighters extinguished the fire and ensured that all occupants safely evacuated the home.
Regrettably, the home suffered severe damage as a result of the intense fire. The fire left a lasting impact on the structure, rendering it uninhabitable. However, the silver lining in this unfortunate event is that all occupants—three adults and two children—escaped unharmed. The Red Cross was dispatched to assist the displaced individuals.
At this time, the source and circumstances that led to this fire remain unknown and remain under investigation.
