Clearwater, FL – An 18-year-old motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Monday, February 10, 2025. The incident occurred at approximately 7:55 p.m. at the intersection of Drew Street and Belcher Road.
According to investigators, 38-year-old Oliverio Calihua-Macuixtle was driving a 2020 white Ford F-350 when he made an improper left turn in front of the motorcyclist, leading to a collision. The impact caused potentially life-threatening injuries, including significant injuries to the motorcyclist’s leg. He was transported to the trauma center at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg for emergency treatment.

Calihua-Macuixtle fled the scene without stopping but was later located at his residence on N Maywood Avenue in Clearwater. Investigators found evidence of the crash on his vehicle, and he reportedly admitted to the collision. He stated he fled due to fear of immigration issues.
Authorities confirmed that Calihua-Macuixtle is a citizen of Mexico. There is no initial indication that drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
Calihua-Macuixtle was arrested in connection with the incident and was held on a $100,000 bond on charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury. He was released on a surety bond on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 4:31 p.m.
