Clearwater Man Shot After Allegedly Threatening Couple With Knife; Charged With Aggravated Assault

Clearwater — Clearwater Police have identified the man shot Saturday night at the Royal Breeze Apartments as Josten Pack, 36, of Clearwater.

Officers and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded at 7:30 p.m. to 21227 U.S. 19 N. for a reported shooting. An adult male was transported as a trauma alert to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Detectives said Pack threatened a man and a woman with a knife outside the apartment complex. The man, fearing for his life and the life of his girlfriend, shot Pack.

After receiving treatment for a gunshot wound and being released from the hospital, Pack was booked into the Pinellas County Jail. He is charged with aggravated assault in connection with the shooting.

Pack also faces a charge of battery on a person 65 or older stemming from a separate incident the previous day at a nearby business. According to investigators, he threw a water bottle at a 70-year-old woman, striking her in the face.

Police said there is no ongoing threat to the community. The investigation remains active.
