Clearwater Police Arrest Tampa Man in Attempted Carjacking

Clearwater Police arrested a Tampa man early this morning following an attempted carjacking at a gas station and convenience store.

Brian L. Davis, age 44, was charged with armed carjacking, aggravated assault, and criminal mischief. He is currently in custody at the Pinellas County Jail.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:40 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at the On The Fly gas station and convenience store located at 3009 Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard. Officers responded to reports of a man attempting to carjack a vehicle.

According to police, Davis approached a driver pumping gas and asked for a ride to Tampa. When the driver refused, Davis attempted to enter the vehicle, leading to a physical altercation. Davis reportedly brandished a large piece of metal, swinging it as a weapon. A friend of the driver intervened, at which point Davis allegedly pulled out a knife.

Officers arrived quickly and took Davis into custody without further incident. The driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Clearwater Fire & Rescue personnel.

The investigation remains ongoing.
