Clearwater Police Department homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred early this morning at the Washington Square apartments, located at 2 Fernwood Avenue.
The incident took place around 2 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024, resulting in one fatality and another injury.
A 51-year-old man was flown to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg, where he died from the result of multiple gunshot wounds. His 43-year-old girlfriend was also injured but was treated and released.
According to investigators, the shooting began following a confrontation between the woman’s 19-year-old son and the suspect, who had arrived at the apartment. The situation escalated into gunfire, leaving two people injured. Detectives believe this was not a random act of violence.
