Clearwater Police Seek Public’s Help To Identify Rent Check Theft Suspects
Clearwater Police are asking for help from the public to identify two suspects from a recent rash of rent check thefts.
Seven Clearwater apartment complexes and about 40 different victims have been affected by the thefts, which occurred from Nov. 3-7. The suspects steal checks and money orders out of the drop boxes at the apartment complexes.
Clearwater Police urge residents not to leave checks or money orders in such drop boxes. They should only hand their payment to a person who works for the leasing company.
Some of the apartment complexes involved are King’s Court Apartments, 111 N. Lady Mary Drive; Lennox Court Apartments, 2035 Kings Highway; Granada Apartments, 2010 Kings Highway; Coachman Club Apartments, 730 Old Coachman Road N.; and Balmoral Club, 2065 N. Highland Ave.
Largo, Pinellas Park, Tampa and Hillsborough County have also had similar crimes.
Anyone with information on the identity of the suspects should call Clearwater
Police at 727-562-4242.
