A collision between a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office vehicle and a vehicle from the Tampa General Hospital Transplant Institute occurred on Monday, May 22, 2023, shortly after 7:30 am at the intersection of East/West Bay Drive and Missouri Avenue.
One individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident and was transported to a nearby hospital. The deputy involved is a School Resource Deputy.
Reports indicate that the Tampa General Hospital vehicle was en route to deliver an organ to a local hospital when the crash took place. An on-scene emergency vehicle completed the transport to the hospital.
As the investigation by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team is underway, the intersection of East/West Bay Drive and Missouri Avenue is expected to remain closed for several hours.
