Crash Involving a Motorcycle in St. Petersburg Beach Being Investigated

Deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) are investigating a car vs. motorcycle crash in St. Pete Beach that occurred at about 2:26 p.m. on Wednesday, May, 7, 2014.
According to deputies, 80-year-old James Clark was driving his 2000 Lexus southbound on Gulf Blvd. in the median lane in the area of 73rd avenue. At the same time, 79-year-old Jesse Almond was driving his 2012 Kawasaki motorcycle, attempting to pull onto Gulf Blvd from 73rd Avenue, intending to travel southbound. Almond struck the driver’s side rear quarter panel of the Lexus, causing him to be ejected from the motorcycle.
Almond was transported to a local hospital via ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. Almond was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Clark was not injured in the crash.
It does not appear that alcohol or drug impairment were factors in the crash. No charges are pending at this time.
The investigation continues.
