HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A three-vehicle crash on I-75 northbound left one driver dead and another seriously injured on the evening of September 30, 2025.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 7:20 p.m. south of Fletcher Avenue.
Troopers say a 38-year-old Lakeland woman was driving a Nissan Rogue in the outside lane at a very slow speed. A 67-year-old St. Petersburg man, traveling behind her in a Mitsubishi Mirage, collided with the rear of the Rogue. The impact pushed the Nissan to the outside shoulder, where it struck a barrier wall.
The Mitsubishi then rotated into the inside center lane and entered the path of a tractor-trailer driven by a 43-year-old man from Loganville, Georgia. The tractor-trailer struck the Mitsubishi.
Both the Lakeland woman and the St. Petersburg man sustained serious injuries and were transported to area hospitals. The driver of the Mitsubishi later died from his injuries.
The tractor-trailer driver was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
