Tampa Police officers and Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are currently on scene of an accident involving a fatality on the Howard Frankland Bridge.
Troopers say that a man was driving a 2008 Kia Spectra southbound on I-275 near SR-60 about 4:05 PM.
The 69 year-old Barry Edward Anderson of Jacksonville, Florida was in the inside lane when for an unknown reason lost control of the vehicle. The Kia entered the shoulder then collided with the center median concrete barrier. After the initial impact, the Kia overturned multiple times along the wall and partially caught fire.
Anderson died at the scene and his identity has not yet been released.
At this time, two northbound lanes and two southbound lanes on the bridge are closed.
These lanes are expected to remain closed for an extended period of time as law enforcement officers investigate.
Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes.
