The crash occurred at approximately 2:17 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 on US-19 north of Klosterman Road in Tarpon Springs.
Based on preliminary information from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 24 year-old Tampa woman was operating a 2010 Hyundai Accent southbound on US-19, south of Sun Valley Boulevard.
She failed to slow, stop or change lanes, and collided with the rear of a parked and unoccupied Tarpon Springs Police Department 2021 Chevy Tahoe. The Tahoe was stopped in the inside lane of US-19, along with several other patrol vehicles, with emergency lights activated for a traffic stop in progress.
The unrestrained woman was transported to an area hospital and later died from injuries suffered during the crash.
