Deputies Probe Deadly Collision on Tampa Road and Oakleaf Boulevard in Oldsmar

Deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) continue to investigate a crash that killed 27-year-old Benjamin Brown.

Deputies responded to the scene on Sunday, February 25, 2024, around 9:35 a.m., at Tampa Road and Oakleaf Boulevard in Oldsmar, following a collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle.

Preliminary findings indicate that 20-year-old Benjamin Brown was riding a 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650 motorcycle eastbound on Tampa Road. Simultaneously, 73-year-old Mitchell Wnorowski was westbound on Tampa Road, operating a 2006 Gold Cadillac DTS, and entered the left turn lane for Oakleaf Boulevard. Wnorowski initiated a U-turn on Tampa Road, intersecting the path of Brown.

Brown was transported to a local trauma center by helicopter and later pronounced deceased, while Wnorowski remained uninjured.

Next of kin have been informed, and according to investigators, it does not appear that speed and impairment are factors in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
