Deputy stable after officer-involved shooting at Bradenton Health Care Facility

Officers from the Bradenton Police Department and deputies from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shots-fired call at the Bradenton Health Care facility / Aspire at Palma Sola Bay, 6305 Cortez Road W, in Bradenton.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:25 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2024.

Upon arrival, Deputies confirmed that the subject attempted to enter the facility by ramming his vehicle into the building and firing at least one shot at an employee.

Officers began to search for the subject, and officers heard additional gunshots around the backside of the facility.

At approximately 3:33 a.m., multiple shots were fired, and it was reported that an officer was shot. Multiple law enforcement agencies from neighboring counties assisted in the search for the suspect by ground and air.

The 40-year-old Sean Calcutti suspect was located at about 5:32 a.m. and taken into custody at the 4500 block of 60th Street W. The arrest location was about one-half mile southeast of the healthcare facility. A Glock firearm was also found in his possession.

There were no reports of injuries to either the residents or employees of the facility.

In addition, one deputy was involved in a vehicle crash while responding to the location of the shooting. No serious injuries were reported in that crash.

According to Sheriff Rick Wells, the deputy is in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his left arm, and the suspect is in custody.

According to Sheriff Wells, Calcutti has an extensive arrest history both in Florida and New York. His motives are unknown at this time.
