Divers from Tampa Police Locate Man That Fell off Dock Near the Convention Center
Tampa Police officers and Tampa Fire Rescue personnel responded to the Convention Center at approximately 11:01 a.m., after receiving a call that a man fell off the dock and did not resurface.
According to witnesses, the man was pressure washing the side of the dock when the incident occurred.
Officers on the Tampa Police Dive Team searched for several minutes before finally recovering 53 year-old Johnnie Norton, an employee of C&W Services. He was subcontracted to pressure wash the docks outside the Convention Center.
Norton was transported to Tampa General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Next of kin has been notified.
